Scout Truck Rally

Rules and Regulations

  1. The 110th Toronto Scouts Scoutruck Rally is open to all Seton Area Scouts, Venturers, Leaders, Sponsors and Parents, and all must have fun.
  2. Only one type of truck will be raced. The 18 wheeler Scout Truck available in a kit from any Scout Shop.
  3. There will be three (3) classes for entries, and two (2) categories within each class. The classes are: Scouts only, Venturers only, and Adults only. The two categories for each class are Design and Speed.
  4. Each Group will assign a different number to each truck from that group. Numbers are from 1 to 100. The 110th will assign each group a letter. The assigned Group letter followed by the participants number should be clearly displayed on the top of the truck. Eg: A-12, D-08, F-24, etc
  5. Total weight of the truck is not to exceed 900 grams
  6. Overall width not to exceed 8.5 cm
  7. Overall height not to exceed 11.5 cm and not less than 50.8 mm
  8. Overall length (including trailer) not to exceed 44.5 cm
  9. Clearance under the body must be at least 9.525 mm ( to clear the track ) and a minimum of 44.5 mm between the wheels.
  10. All trucks must pivot where the cab and the trailer connect.
  11. The wheels, axles and the chassis (wooden blocks that the axles fit into) that are supplied in the kits must be used. Bearings, washers and bushings are not allowed. All other materials used in the completion and decoration of the trucks are open to creativity as long as you follow the specifications outlined above. Every effort must be made to ensure that all wheels touch the track.
  12. Trucks may not be lubricated once registered. Trucks cannot be lubricated on event premises. Failure to comply will result in disqualification.
  13. All trucks must be free wheeling and shall not use any type of spring system or self starting device.
  14. All trucks entered in previous years will be disallowed.
  15. Inspection: Each model must pass inspection by the Official Inspection Committee before it may compete. The inspectors have the right to disqualify those models which do not meet these specifications.(Time will be allowed to modify entries to meet specifications before a final ruling is decided)
  16. The decisions of the Judges are final.

RATIONALE FOR THE ABOVE SPECIFICATIONS:

  • The width was easy. The model needs to run on a standard Kub Kar track (with minor modifications to the starting length). This number was taken from the specifications of the Truck model kit.
  • The height was determined by the dimension of the electronic finish line.
  • The length was derived from the truck model kit from the Scout Shop.
  • The weight was derived from a consensus of various groups who have run Scoutrucks.
  • The remaining specifications were taken (nearly word-for-word) from the Kub Kar Racing Specifications.
